Longocaine Heavy solution for injection 5 mg/ml vial No. 5

Longocaine Heavy injection solution is indicated for adults and children of all ages for intrathecal (subarachnoid) spinal anesthesia in surgery (urological operations and operations on the lower extremities lasting 2-3 hours, as well as operations in abdominal surgery lasting
45-60 minutes).
Composition
Active ingredient: bupivacaine;
1 ml of solution contains bupivacaine hydrochloride anhydrous 5 mg;
Excipients: glucose monohydrate, water for injections.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to amide local anesthetics or to any component of the drug.
Intrathecal anesthesia, regardless of the local anesthetic used, has its own contraindications, which include:
Active central nervous system diseases such as meningitis, poliomyelitis, intracranial hemorrhages, subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord due to pernicious anemia and tumors of the brain and spinal cord; spinal stenosis and diseases in the active stage (e.g. spondylitis, tuberculosis, tumors) or recent injuries (e.g. fracture) of the spine; septicemia; purulent skin infection at or near the lumbar puncture site; cardiogenic or hypovolemic shock; blood clotting disorders or continued treatment with anticoagulants.Method of application
The drug should be administered by a physician experienced in regional anesthesia or under his supervision. Small doses should be used to achieve a sufficient degree of anesthesia.
Application features
Pregnant women
Should not be used in early pregnancy unless the benefits are considered to outweigh the risks.
Children
Longocaine Heavy can be used in pediatric practice.
Drivers
With caution.
Overdose
It is unlikely that the use of Longocaine Heavy at recommended doses will result in high blood concentrations that could lead to systemic toxicity. However, in the case of simultaneous use with other local anesthetics, systemic toxic reactions may occur, since the toxic effects are additive.
Side effects
Adverse reactions caused by the drug itself are difficult to distinguish from the physiological effects of nerve fiber blockade (e.g., decreased blood pressure, bradycardia), as well as phenomena caused directly (e.g., nerve injury) or indirectly (e.g., epidural abscess) by needle puncture.
Interaction
Bupivacaine should be administered with caution to patients receiving local anesthetics or drugs structurally related to amide anesthetics, such as lidocaine or mexiletine, as the risk of additive toxicity is increased. Specific interaction studies of bupivacaine with class III antiarrhythmics (e.g. amiodarone) have not been conducted, but caution should be exercised if these drugs are prescribed.
Storage conditions
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Shelf life - 2 years.
