Composition

Lugol's solution with glycerin has a bactericidal effect due to the free iodine content in it. The drug has an antimicrobial effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including streptococci, staphylococci, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, and Proteus vulgaris.

Inflammatory diseases of the mucous membranes of the pharynx and larynx: laryngitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Hyperthyroidism; decompensated heart, kidney or liver failure; examination or therapy with radioactive iodine (2 weeks before and after the examination or therapy).

Special safety precautions

The drug is not intended for oral administration. Do not inhale and/or swallow the drug.

Use with caution in laryngitis due to the possibility of laryngospasm; in tuberculosis, hemorrhagic diatheses.

Do not allow the drug to get into the eyes.

Overdose

Iodism may occur (runny nose, urticaria, angioedema, lacrimation, salivation, skin rashes, muscle weakness, lethargy).

Treatment: Immediate discontinuation of the drug and symptomatic therapy.

With prolonged use, symptoms of iodism may appear (runny nose, urticaria, angioedema, lacrimation, drooling, skin rashes, muscle weakness, lethargy), hypersensitivity reactions.
