Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. Neo-angin is active against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms in vitro; exhibits antifungal activity. The effectiveness of the drug is due to the presence of two broad-spectrum antibacterial components that relieve sore throat and reduce the action of bacteria due to the bactericidal effect. 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol has a bacteriostatic effect due to dehydration of the bacterial cell.

Levomenthol complements the action of the other two components of the drug with an analgesic effect caused by stimulation of cold receptors of the mucous membrane.

Neo-Angin is well tolerated and has a pleasant taste.

Pharmacokinetics. Due to the low absorption, the drug belongs to the topical preparations. Therefore, pharmacokinetic parameters were not determined.

Indication

Local treatment (as part of complex therapy) of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity, pharynx and larynx: stomatitis, gingivitis, tonsillitis, initial stage of angina, pharyngitis, laryngitis.

Application

Adults and children over 6 years of age are recommended to slowly dissolve 1 lollipop every 2-3 hours, but not more than 6 lollipops per day. The duration of treatment is 3-5 days.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, age up to 6 years.

Side effects

On the part of the digestive system: very rarely - irritation of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity and stomach, feeling of discomfort in the oral cavity (burning sensation in the mouth), throat irritation (burning sensation in the throat), paresthesia of the oral cavity (tingling in the mouth), glossodynia (pain in the tongue); very rarely - dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, stomatitis; unknown - abdominal pain.

Special instructions

Patients with diabetes should take into account that 1 lollipop of the drug Neo-Angin contains 0.22 hecto. The drugs Neo-Angin Cherry, Neo-Angin Sage and Neo-Angin Sugar-Free contain the dye Ponceau 4R (E124), which may cause allergic reactions. These drugs also contain isomalt (sugar substitute) 2.58 g This should be taken into account by patients with diabetes.

The drug should not be used in patients with fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, sucrose-isomaltose.

If symptoms of the disease persist for more than 3 days, are accompanied by high fever, headache, or other manifestations, the treatment regimen should be reviewed by a doctor.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The safety and efficacy of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding have not been established. Use during pregnancy is possible only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.

The drug should not be used during breastfeeding.

Children. Contraindicated in children under 6 years of age.
