Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics. Noxspray - α-adrenomimetic, an imidazoline derivative, belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors. narrows the vessels at the site of application, reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa and upper respiratory tract, reduces nasal discharge. restores nasal breathing. elimination of swelling of the nasal mucosa contributes to the restoration of aeration of the paranasal sinuses, middle ear cavity, which prevents the development of bacterial complications. oxymetazoline has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and antioxidant effects. thanks to this combined mechanism of action, rapid and effective elimination of symptoms of acute rhinitis (nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, sneezing, poor health) was observed. with local nasal application in therapeutic concentrations, it does not irritate the nasal mucosa, does not cause hyperemia. essential oils that are part of the drug help eliminate the feeling of irritation of the nasal mucosa, protect it from excessive drying.

Indication
Acute respiratory diseases accompanied by nasal congestion. acute rhinitis. allergic rhinitis. vasomotor rhinitis. to restore drainage and nasal breathing in diseases of the paranasal sinuses of the nasal cavity, eustachitis. to eliminate edema before diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages.
Application
Noxspray, Noxspray Active. Adults and children over 6 years of age should use 1 spray in each nostril 2-3 times a day. Doses higher than recommended should only be used under the supervision of a physician. The drug should not be used for more than 5-7 days. The drug can be used again only after a few days.
Noxspray Baby is intended for use in the nose. For infants under 4 weeks of age, the drug is used 1 drop in each nostril 2-3 times a day. For children aged 5 weeks to 1 year, 1-2 drops in each nostril 2-3 times a day for 5-7 days.
Noxspray Children's. Children aged 1 to 6 years - 1 spray in each nostril 2-3 times a day. Doses higher than recommended should be used only under the supervision of a doctor. The drug should be used for no more than 5-7 days. The drug can be used again only after a few days.
Children. Noxspray Baby is used for children under 1 year of age. Noxspray Children should be prescribed for children aged 1 to 6 years. Noxspray and Noxspray Active are used for children aged 6 years and older.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, atrophic rhinitis, when using MAO inhibitors and within 2 weeks after stopping treatment with MAO inhibitors, as well as other drugs that contribute to the increase in blood pressure, with increased intraocular pressure, especially with angle-closure glaucoma, with severe forms of cardiovascular diseases (e.g. coronary artery disease, angina pectoris), pheochromocytoma, metabolic disorders (hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, porphyria), prostatic hypertrophy.
Side effects
On the part of the respiratory system: nasal discomfort, burning or dryness of the nasal mucosa, feeling of severe nasal congestion (reactive hyperemia), sneezing, nosebleeds, apnea in newborns and young children, especially in case of overdose.
From the nervous system: headache, drowsiness, fatigue, lethargy, insomnia, anxiety, seizures, hallucinations, dizziness, nausea, vomiting.
From the cardiovascular system: local nasal application of the drug may cause systemic effects (sensation of heart failure, tachycardia, arterial hypertension).
On the part of the immune system: allergic reactions are possible, including rash, itching, angioedema.
Special instructions
Insert the tip of the bottle nozzle into each nostril and press the bottle sharply once. During the injection, inhale air through your nose. Do not tilt your head back and turn the bottle over when injecting the drug (hold the bottle strictly vertically). To prevent the spread of infection, do not use one bottle for several people.
Prolonged use and overdose of the drug should be avoided. Prolonged use of a decongestant for the nose may lead to a weakening of the drug's effect. Abuse of this drug may cause atrophic rhinitis, atrophy of the mucous membrane and reactive hyperemia with drug-induced rhinitis. After using the drug, special observation of patients with chronic rhinitis is necessary and in case of elimination of edema before diagnostic manipulations. Doses higher than recommended should be used only under the supervision of a physician. The duration of continuous use of the drug should not exceed 7 days.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The drug can be used with extreme caution if, in the opinion of the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child. The recommended dose should not be exceeded.
The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms. After prolonged use of the drug in doses exceeding the recommended ones, a general effect on the cardiovascular system cannot be excluded. In such cases, the ability to drive a vehicle may decrease.
The drug should not be used simultaneously with other local vasoconstrictors and intranasal agents (increased incidence of adverse reactions), with MAO inhibitors and other drugs that increase blood pressure due to the risk of arrhythmia.
Overdose
In case of significant overdose or accidental ingestion, the following symptoms may occur: mydriasis or miosis, nausea, vomiting, cyanosis, pallor, increased sweating, hyperthermia, spasms, tachycardia, a feeling of interruptions in the work of the heart, arrhythmia, cardiovascular failure, angina pectoris, respiratory disorders, pulmonary edema, cardiac arrest, hyposmia, agitation, convulsions, mental disorders. In addition, inhibition of the functions of the central nervous system is possible, which is accompanied by drowsiness, a decrease in body temperature, bradycardia, arterial hypotension, apnea and the possible development of coma.
Therapeutic measures in case of overdose: gastric lavage, administration of activated charcoal, mechanical ventilation if necessary. In case of hypertension, vasodilators (phentolamine, sodium nitroprusside) should be used. Vasopressors should not be used. If necessary, benzodiazepines should be prescribed for agitation, anticonvulsant therapy should be carried out with benzodiazepines and/or barbiturates.

Noxspray Baby - at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
