Ofloxacin-Pharmex is a drug used in ophthalmology for the topical treatment of external eye infections (such as conjunctivitis and keratitis) in adults and children caused by microorganisms sensitive to ofloxacin.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug, other quinolones.

Method of application

The drug is intended for topical use in the eye only.

The first 2 days, 1–2 drops are instilled every 2–4 hours, and then 4 times a day. The duration of treatment should not exceed 10 days.

Application features

If an allergic reaction to Ofloxacin-Pharmex occurs, the drug should be discontinued. The drug should be used with caution in patients who have previously demonstrated sensitivity to other quinolone antibacterial agents.

Pregnant women

Since systemic fluoroquinolones can cause arthropathy in sexually immature animals, the drug should not be used during pregnancy.

Children

Safety and effectiveness in children under 1 year of age have not been established.

Ofloxacin-Pharmex eye drops can be prescribed to children from 1 year of age.

Drivers

The use of Ofloxacin-Pharmex eye drops does not affect the patient's reaction rate.

After instillation of the drug into the conjunctival sac of the eye, blurred vision may occur for several minutes. While vision is blurred, patients should refrain from driving or operating other machinery.

Overdose

In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment should be used. Since QT interval prolongation is possible, ECG monitoring should be performed.

Side effects

Immune system disorders: Hypersensitivity reactions, including signs and symptoms of allergy (e.g. itching of the eyes and eyelids) and anaphylactic reactions (e.g. angioedema, dyspnoea, anaphylactic shock, oropharyngeal oedema, facial and tongue oedema).

Nervous system: dizziness.

On the part of the organs of vision: eye irritation, eye discomfort, keratitis, conjunctivitis, blurred vision, photophobia, eye swelling, foreign body sensation, increased lacrimation, dry eye, eye pain, eye hyperemia, periorbital edema (including eyelid edema).

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C. Keep out of the reach of children.
