The drug has an antiseptic effect and a wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity against gram-positive (staphylococci, pneumococci, streptococci) and gram-negative (gonococci, meningococci) cocci, corynebacteria, gram-negative bacteria (enterobacteria, pseudomonads), protozoa, dermatophytes, yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida, chlamydia and viruses. In the process of using Oftalmodek, resistant variants of microorganisms are formed slowly. The drug potentiates the effect of traditional antimicrobial agents in complex treatment.

Indication
Acute and chronic conjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, gonoblenorrhea, chlamydial damage to the mucous membrane of the eye; for the prevention of blenorrhea in newborns, prescribed in the preoperative period and after ophthalmological operations for the prevention of purulent-inflammatory complications. For the treatment of contact lenses.

Hypersensitivity to decamethoxine or to other components of the drug.

Method of administration and doses
For the treatment of acute and chronic conjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, gonoblenorrhea, chlamydial conjunctival lesions, Ophthalmodek should be instilled into the conjunctival sac 2-3 drops 4-6 times a day until complete recovery.
To prevent blenorrhea in newborns, instill 2 drops of the drug into the eyes immediately after birth and 2 hours after delivery.
For prophylactic purposes, Oftalmodek should be prescribed 2-3 drops 4-6 times a day 1 day before surgery and for 3-5 days after surgery.
Immerse contact lenses in the drug solution for 10-15 minutes, then rinse in sterile 0.9% sodium chloride solution.
Children
The drug should be used in newborns to prevent blenorrhea.

Side effects
Allergic reactions and local eye irritation are possible in cases of increased individual sensitivity to decamethoxin.
