Composition
Eyebright extract (Euphraia arctica extract) 2 mg in 1 ml sodium chloride (natrii chloridum) 7 mg in 1 ml; excipients: benzalkonium chloride (benzalkonii chloridum) 0.04 mg in 1 ml (0.004%), disodium edetate dihydrate (dinatrii edetas dihydras), potassium chloride (kalii chloridum), magnesium chloride hexahydrate (magnesii chloridum hexahydras), polysorbate 80 (пolysorbatum 80), sodium tetraborate (natrii tetraboras), sodium hydroxide (sodium), water for injections (aqua pro injectionibus).
Properties
OKUflash® is a special eye (isotonic, buffered) solution, which contains eyebright extract as an additive. This solution is intended for instillation into the eyes or for use as a part of compresses for the eyelids. Eyebright extract has an anti-inflammatory and astringent effect on the eyes. These properties of eyebright have long been used to reduce eye fatigue, as well as for the prevention and supportive treatment of non-infectious inflammatory diseases of the eyelids and mucous membrane of the eyes (hereinafter - conjunctiva).
Recommendations for use
OKUflash® is an ideal eyewash. This product can be used without consulting an ophthalmologist for simple short-term eyewash, as an eye drop, or as part of eyelid compresses. This product is used in case of discomfort in the eye, such as burning, tingling, itching or a feeling of a foreign object in the eye. In practice, OKUflash® is a product for use in such cases, for example:
- For rinsing the eye after tonometry and gonioscopy.
- For washing the eye to remove foreign bodies from the conjunctiva: dust, chlorinated water, etc. (if washing is ineffective, consult a doctor immediately!).
- When washing away residual fluorescent solutions.
- When washing away mucous and purulent discharge.
- When rinsing the eyes after removing contact lenses.
- As an additional remedy in the treatment of some forms of conjunctivitis, as well as chronic inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eyes and eyelids.
- For eye fatigue caused by prolonged reading, driving, watching TV or using a computer.
- As a substance for removing cosmetics from eyelids and eyelashes. OKUflash® can be used by both adults and children. This product can be used in the care of infants and infants; it can also be used by pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Instructions for use: after opening the bottle, the drug OKUflash® is ready for use for its intended purpose. The patient must unscrew the protective cap, slightly move the bottle head in the opposite direction, turn the plastic bottle over and, slightly squeezing it, squeeze the required number of drops into the lower arch of the conjunctival sac of the eye. The drug must be instilled into the affected eye (or use the drug for washing the eye) in the amount necessary in a particular situation (the amount of solution released is controlled by the force of squeezing the bottle). In case of inflammation of the eyelids, the drug can also be used to prepare compresses. When instilling the eye, it is necessary to ensure that the dosing tube does not touch the surface of the eye, eyelids or eyelashes. Finally, after using the drug, the cap must be tightly screwed into place in order to prevent contamination of the drug. The bottle must be stored in an upright position.
Method of application
When used to relieve conjunctival irritation, as well as in the supportive treatment of non-infectious inflammations of the mucous membrane of the eyes and eyelids, the product should be instilled into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) 1-2 drops 3-4 times a day. To flush a foreign body from the conjunctiva, the eye should be treated with the solution until the foreign body is removed (until relief is felt).
Reservation
OKUflash® does not affect the concentration of attention when driving vehicles, working with technological equipment or working at height. However, after instillation into the conjunctival sac, in some cases a temporary decrease in the sharpness of visual recognition of objects is possible, therefore any actions requiring increased attention can be carried out only after the cessation of this temporary effect. In case of ingestion, you should consult a doctor.
Patients are not allowed to wear soft contact lenses during the use of the product. Hard contact lenses must be removed before using the drug and can be used again only 20 minutes after instillation.
If any other eye drops or eye ointments are also used while using OKUflash®, they should be applied at least 5 minutes after using OKUflash®.
Contraindication
OKUflash® should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to one of the components.
Side effect
OKUflash® is usually well tolerated. In some cases, a temporary slight burning sensation may occur immediately after application. Hypersensitivity reactions are also possible.
Storage conditions
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25° C. Do not refrigerate/freeze. OKUflash® should be stored out of the reach of children.
