Omeprazole-Farmak is a drug for the treatment of peptic ulcer and gastroesophageal reflux disease. Omeprazole for intravenous use is indicated as an alternative to oral therapy in the following cases.
Adults:
treatment of duodenal ulcers; prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers; treatment of gastric ulcers; prevention of recurrence of gastric ulcers; in combination with appropriate antibiotics for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in peptic ulcer disease; treatment of NSAID-associated gastric and duodenal ulcers; prevention of NSAID-associated gastric and duodenal ulcers in patients at risk; treatment of reflux esophagitis; long-term treatment of patients with cured reflux esophagitis; treatment of symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease; treatment of Zollinger–Ellison syndrome.Warehouse
active ingredient: omeprazole; 1 bottle contains omeprazole sodium 42.6 mg, which is equivalent to omeprazole 40 mg; excipients: disodium edetate, sodium hydroxide.Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to the active substance, substituted benzimidazoles or to any of the excipients of the drug.
Omeprazole, like other PPIs, should not be used concomitantly with nelfinavir.
Method of application
For patients for whom oral administration is unacceptable, omeprazole 40 mg once daily intravenously is recommended. For patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, the recommended starting dose of the drug administered intravenously is 60 mg per day. Higher daily doses may be required, so the dose should be selected individually. If the dose exceeds 60 mg per day, it should be divided into two equal doses and administered 2 times a day.
Application features
In the presence of any alarming symptom (e.g. significant weight loss not due to diet; frequent vomiting; dysphagia; vomiting with blood or melena) and in the presence of diagnosed or suspected gastric ulcer, malignant disease should be excluded, since taking the drug may mask its symptoms and delay the establishment of the correct diagnosis.
Pregnant women
Omeprazole can be used during pregnancy.
Children
Experience with the use of the drug for intravenous administration in pediatric practice is limited, therefore the drug should not be prescribed to this category of patients.
Drivers
It is unlikely that Omeprazole-Farmak affects the ability to drive or use machines. Undesirable effects such as dizziness and visual disturbances may occur. If such disorders are observed, patients should not drive or use machines.
Overdose
Very limited data are available on the effects of omeprazole overdose in humans. Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and headache have been reported. Apathy, depression and confusion have also been reported in isolated cases.
Side effects
From the blood and lymphatic system: leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia.
Immune system disorders: hypersensitivity reactions, including fever, angioedema and anaphylactic reactions/shock.
Metabolism and nutrition disorders: hyponatremia.
On the part of the psyche: insomnia, agitation, confusion, depression, aggression, hallucinations.
Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ºС.
