Preparations for the treatment of wounds and ulcers. ATX code D03A X03.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Dexpanthenol is an alcohol analogue of pantothenic acid and has the same biological efficacy as pantothenic acid, due to intermediate metabolism. Pantothenic acid and its salts are water-soluble vitamins that, in the form of coenzyme A, participate in many metabolic processes.
Topical application of dexpanthenol can compensate for the increased need for pantothenic acid in damaged skin and/or mucous membranes.
Pharmacokinetics
The active substance is absorbed through the skin. More detailed studies on the metabolism of the active substance in the skin and mucous membranes have not been conducted.
Indication
It is used for various skin and mucous membrane injuries, including abrasions, burns, aseptic postoperative wounds, skin transplantation, bullous and bullous dermatitis.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions
The interaction of the drug "Panthenol Aerosol" with other drugs is unknown.
Application features
Pressurized container. Protect from falling, impact, direct sunlight and heating above 50 °C. Do not open or burn even after complete use of the foam, discard only after complete release of gas. Do not spray near open flames or hot objects.
When using the drug for the first time, it is necessary to shake the container well, release the first portion until foam appears, and only then apply the drug to the affected surface.
Avoid getting foam in the eyes. If foam accidentally gets into the eyes, rinse them with water.
When using "Panthenol Aerosol", patients with bronchial asthma or bronchopulmonary diseases should not inhale the propellant, as it may irritate the mucous membranes or even cause an attack of bronchial asthma.
It should be borne in mind that cetostearyl alcohol may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis), and propylene glycol may cause skin irritation.
Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms
There are no special precautions.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
Pantothenate crosses the placental barrier by an active transport process and is excreted in breast milk in proportion to its absorption.
Since the systemic availability of dexpanthenol after topical application is unknown, if it is necessary to use the drug "Panthenol Aerosol" during pregnancy or breastfeeding on large areas of skin, the benefits of using the drug for the mother and the possible risk to the fetus/child should be carefully weighed. During pregnancy, the drug may be used as prescribed by a doctor. When used to treat cracked nipples during breastfeeding, the drug should be washed off before feeding.
Method of administration and doses
Spray “Panthenol Aerosol” evenly onto the damaged area once or several times a day.
When spraying the product, hold the container vertically, with the valve facing upwards. To obtain a high-quality foam, it is necessary to shake the container vigorously before each use, especially if it has not been used for a long time. If the product is used for the first time, only the propellant may be sprayed at first before foam is formed.
The nozzle is brought to the affected area and gently pressed on it, evenly spraying the drug onto the affected area from a distance of 10–20 cm for 1–2 seconds.
The duration of treatment depends on the type and course of the disease and is determined after consultation with a doctor.
If "Panthenol Aerosol" is to be applied to the face, it should not be sprayed directly onto the face. It is advisable to spray the product onto your hand and distribute it over the appropriate part of the face. Do not spray the product into the eyes, directly into the mouth or nose.
