Suppositories "Papaverine" are used for spasm of smooth muscles: abdominal organs (with cholecystitis, pylorospasm, spastic colitis, renal colic); peripheral vessels (with endarteritis); cerebral vessels.

Composition

The active substance is papaverine hydrochloride (one suppository contains 20 mg of papaverine hydrochloride).

The excipient is solid fat.

Contraindication

Method of application

The suppository should be inserted deep into the anus after a cleansing enema or natural bowel movement.

Adults should use one suppository 2-3 times a day.

The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease and is determined by the doctor individually.

Application features

Pregnant women

Safety of use has not been established. Use of the drug during pregnancy is possible only on the advice of a doctor, if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and child. During the period of treatment, breastfeeding is recommended to be discontinued.

Children

The medicine is not used in children.

Drivers

The drug should be used with caution in case of side effects from the nervous system.

Overdose

Symptoms: diplopia, weakness, drowsiness, hypotension, dry mouth, digestive tract disorders, visual impairment, redness of the skin of the upper body, tachycardia, asystole, ventricular flutter, collapse, hyperventilation, nystagmus, ataxia; arrhythmia or complete atrioventricular block; papaverine hydrochloride in very high doses exhibits a moderate sedative effect.

Treatment: discontinuation of the drug, symptomatic treatment. There is no specific antidote. Completely removed from the blood during hemodialysis.

Side effects

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: allergic reactions, skin hyperemia, urticaria, itching, skin rash, anaphylactic shock.

From the hematopoietic system: eosinophilia.

Cardiac: block, arrhythmia, ventricular fibrillation, ventricular extrasystole, tachycardia, asystole, ventricular flutter, collapse.

Vascular disorders: arterial hypotension.

From the nervous system: drowsiness, weakness, headache, dizziness; apnea.

On the part of the organ of vision: visual impairment (diplopia).

Gastrointestinal tract: increased activity of hepatic transaminases, jaundice, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, anorexia, dry mouth.

Others: increased sweating.

Storage conditions

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, out of the reach of children.
