Penciclovir cream 1% tube 5 g

Penciclovir-Health cream is used for herpes labialis.
Composition
Active ingredient: penciclovir.
1 g of the drug contains 10 mg of penciclovir.
Excipients: polyethylene glycol cetostearyl ether, cetostearyl alcohol, white soft paraffin, mineral oil, propylene glycol, purified water.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to penciclovir, famciclovir or to other components of the drug (e.g. propylene glycol).
Method of application
For adults (including elderly patients) and children aged 12 years and over.
The cream should be applied every 2 hours (except during sleep). The course of treatment is 4 days. It is advisable to start treatment as early as possible at the first signs of infection. Wash your hands before applying the cream.
Application features
Pregnant women
Since minimal systemic absorption of penciclovir following topical application was observed in clinical studies, there is no concern regarding the use of the cream during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Since the safety of penciclovir during pregnancy or breastfeeding has not been established, the drug should be used during this period only after consulting a doctor, in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child.
Children
Studies of the drug's effects on children under 12 years of age have not been conducted.
Drivers
There is no evidence of any effect of the drug on the ability to drive or operate other mechanisms.
Overdose
Overdose is unlikely with topical application. Even in the event of accidental oral ingestion of the entire package, no adverse effects will be observed, since oral absorption of penciclovir is low. However, some irritation of the oral cavity may occur. No specific therapeutic measures are necessary in the event of accidental oral ingestion of the entire package.
Side effects
Immune system disorders: frequency unknown: hypersensitivity reactions, including urticaria.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: frequency unknown: allergic dermatitis (including rash, itching, blisters and swelling, including of the face and lips).
In addition, contact dermatitis (as a reaction to cetostearyl alcohol) and irritation at the application site (as a reaction to propylene glycol) are possible. No cases of increased photosensitivity (pigmentation due to exposure to ultraviolet rays on the skin areas treated with the cream) were observed during clinical trials of the drug.
Interaction
