Babytest Express Test is used for early diagnosis of pregnancy and is intended exclusively for in vitro diagnosis.
How the test works
The Babytest Express Test detects the presence of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in the urine. In non-pregnant women, the level of hCG in the urine is usually around 50 mIU/ml (mlU/ml). The maximum level of hCG is observed up to about 12 weeks of pregnancy and ranges from 100,000 to 200,000 mIU/ml (mlU/ml). The Babytest Express Test detects the presence of hCG in the urine if its level is 10 mIU/ml (mlU/ml) or more. This level can be detected as early as 7-10 days after fertilization.
Instructions for using the test
No special preparation is required to use the test, but it is important to follow the instructions. Babytest should be stored at room temperature. Collect urine in a container (do not store it). Remove the test strip from the sealed package and test immediately, following the instructions. After opening the package, it is not recommended to store it. Holding the test vertically, lower it into the container with the urine sample so that the arrows point down and do not cross the MARK\MAX line marked with the arrows on the test strip. After immersing the strip in the container and holding it there for 5 seconds, remove it and place it on a clean and dry surface. Wait for the colored stripes to appear. The result can be seen no earlier than 5 minutes and no later than 10. It is important to remember that a large amount of fluid consumed before testing can affect the concentration of hCG in the urine. The test can be done at any time of the day.
Negative result
If there is only one colored control line on the test and the result line is blank, this indicates a negative test result, meaning no hCG is detected in your urine. This may mean you are not pregnant or the test was taken too early. If you are unsure, repeat the test in 48 hours.
Positive result
If there are two colored lines on the test - one in the result zone and one in the control zone, this indicates a possibility of pregnancy - hCG has been detected in your urine. One line may be lighter than the other, and they do not necessarily have to be the same color. Either way, this is a positive test result.
Invalid result
If there are no colored lines in either the result or control line, this indicates an invalid test result. Repeat the test with a new strip.
Characteristics
Sensitivity: The urine pregnancy test detects hCG at a concentration of 10 mIU/ml (mlU/ml) or greater.
Specificity: The test has been standardized according to the World Health Organization International Standard.
Addition of: LH (300 mIU/ml (mlU/ml)), FSH (1000 mIU/ml (mlU/ml)) and TSH (1000 mIU/ml (mlU/ml)) to negative (0 mIU/ml (mlU/ml, hCG)) and positive (10 mIU/ml (mlU/ml) hCG) samples showed no reactivity.
Clinical trials have demonstrated over 99% overall accuracy of results.
The marking line that appears in the control region (C) is an internal procedural control.
WARNING
- It is not recommended to perform the test after drinking alcohol, as this may affect the test result.
- If you test too early after fertilization, your hCG levels may be low and the test will show a negative result. In this case, you should repeat the test after 48 hours.
- HCG levels can be determined by a test within a few weeks after childbirth, miscarriage, or therapeutic abortion.
