Composition

active ingredient: prostatilen;

1 suppository contains prostatilen 30 mg (0.03 g);

excipients: dimethyl sulfoxide, polyethylene oxide 1500.

Dosage form

Rectal suppositories.

Main physicochemical properties: suppositories of cream or cream with a grayish tint, spherical shape, with a specific odor. Marbling is allowed.

Pharmacodynamics

Prostatilen has an organotropic effect on the prostate gland (prostate protective effect). The drug reduces edema and leukocyte infiltration of the prostate gland, improves microcirculation and platelet-vascular hemostasis, and has a positive effect on the functional activity of spermatozoa.

Prostatilen stimulates the activity of the humoral link of immunity and some factors of the body's resistance. The drug corrects antibody production and stimulates the antimicrobial activity of neutrophils, and has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Prostatilen also affects the tone of the bladder muscles, including the tone of the detrusor.

Indication

Prevention and treatment of chronic prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia, complications after prostate surgery. The drug is used for sexual disorders, male infertility, and urination disorders.

Contraindication

Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or to bovine proteins.

Application features

Use with caution in patients with atherosclerosis, increased risk of thromboembolism. With prolonged use of high doses of the drug, it is necessary to monitor blood clotting time.

Method of administration and doses

Before using the suppository, you must:

tear off one suppository from the primary packaging along the perforation line of the blister pack;

Pull the edges of the film, tearing it in different directions, and release the suppository from the primary packaging.

Insert the suppository deep into the anus. Apply 1 suppository 1–2 times a day (morning and evening) for 5–10 days.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor depending on the nature and severity of the disease, the achieved therapeutic effect, and the nature of the therapy (monotherapy or complex treatment).

The drug should not be used in children.

Overdose

No cases of overdose with prostatilen suppositories have been reported.

When using high doses of the drug (more than 400 mg per day for a long time), dyspeptic disorders, fatigue, general weakness, headache, creatinuria, increased creatine kinase activity, increased cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations, decreased thyroxine and triiodothyronine concentrations in blood serum, increased estrogen and androgen levels in urine are possible. There is no specific antidote. Treatment is symptomatic.
