Recommendations for use
- Solvit Ferum is recommended for use in dietary diets as a source of vitamins and biologically active substances for the purpose of general strengthening of the body and creating optimal dietary conditions for the functioning of the nervous and hematopoietic systems to enhance hematopoiesis and prevent iron and vitamin deficiencies.
- Prevention of latent iron deficiency and clinically expressed iron deficiency, iron and folic acid deficiency in the period before pregnancy, during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Functional properties
Iron is considered one of the most essential micronutrients for the human body. Its main function is associated with the ability to participate in the formation of heme, and as part of hemoglobin, to reversibly bind oxygen for its transfer to all organs and tissues. Iron deficiency causes disruption of this process and provokes the development of hypoxia.
Iron also takes a direct part in the formation of myoglobin, which plays the role of an intracellular carrier of oxygen and its deposition in muscle tissue. It is myoglobin that is present in significant quantities in cardiomyocytes and red fibers of skeletal muscles, which specialize in working in conditions of aerobic metabolism. In addition, iron is a part of proteins that regulate the processes of cellular respiration, DNA synthesis. Iron ions are involved in the functioning of neurons and the immune system.
Iron bisglycinate chelate, which is part of Solvit Ferum, is not hydrolyzed in the stomach, therefore it is absorbed unchanged and has a bioavailability of 91%. It consists of one molecule of divalent iron and two molecules of the amino acid glycine. Two molecules of glycine bind iron and protect it from hydrolysis. Due to this, iron bisglycinate chelate transits through the stomach and is absorbed by the mucous membrane of the small intestine in an unchanged form. And only after absorption, under the influence of cytoplasmic enzymes of intestinal cells, iron is released and enters the blood. In this case, there is no loss of iron during passage through the gastrointestinal tract. The high bioavailability of iron bisglycinate chelate is also explained by the presence of two absorption pathways, i.e. binding to two types of receptors. The first type of receptor – DMT-1 – is designed for iron salts, these receptors are located in the duodenum. The second type – PEPT-1 – is designed for peptide binding. The presence of the amino acid glycine in the product allows iron bisglycinate chelate to bind to this type of receptor as well. This significantly increases absorption, since PEPT-1 receptors are located throughout the surface of the small intestine.
Vitamin C (dry extract from Acerola berries), also known as Barbados cherry, is one of the richest natural sources of ascorbic acid. Acerola vitamin C is much better absorbed than synthetic ascorbic acid.
Acerola fruits also contain many phytonutrients, such as phenolic compounds, carotenoids, anthocyanins, and flavonoids, have pronounced antioxidant properties, and are synergists of ascorbic acid.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) belongs to the group of water-soluble vitamins. Since vitamin C is not synthesized independently, it is very important to ensure its constant supply to the body.
Ascorbic acid participates in redox reactions, regulation of carbohydrate and protein metabolism, and synthesis of many hormones.
Vitamin C increases the body's nonspecific resistance and normalizes the functioning of the immune system.
Quatrefolic® methylfolate ((6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate) is a 4th generation folic acid, a metabolically active form that does not require additional transformations in the body. It plays an important role in the metabolism of amino acids, the synthesis of protein and nucleic acids (primarily in the production of DNA and RNA) and chromosome repair. Folate ((6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate) is involved in the process of cell division, is necessary for the growth and development of the hematopoietic and immune systems. Folic acid is necessary for the creation and maintenance of healthy cells, its presence is important during periods of rapid growth and development of the body - at the stage of early intrauterine development and in early childhood. Folic acid is involved in the formation of the fetal nervous system, is necessary for cell division, growth and development of all organs and tissues, normal development of the embryo and hematopoietic processes. Folic acid deficiency leads to increased homocysteine levels (hyperhomocysteinemia). Hyperhomocysteinemia is one of the important causes of impaired female reproductive function. This condition often leads to infertility, miscarriage and the birth of children with abnormalities of the central nervous system.
Vitamin B12 MecobalActive® – methylcobalamin – a metabolically active form of vitamin B12. Compared to other forms of vitamin B12, methylcobalamin is better transported into cell organelles at the subcellular level. Cobalamin is an important substance, the deficiency of which leads to anemia, numbness of the extremities, fatigue, decreased immune system functions, increased risk of cardiovascular pathology and decreased cognitive functions. Methylcobalamin acts as an immunomodulator of cellular immunity, necessary for DNA synthesis during cell division, participates in the formation and maturation of erythrocytes and for the maintenance of frequently renewed cells of the body. From the side of the central nervous system, vitamin B12 is necessary for the synthesis of nuclear protein and myelin. Methylcobalamin normalizes axonal transport of protein complexes and axon regeneration. Promotes the myelination of neurons by stimulating the synthesis of phospholipids. Methylcobalamin normalizes energy metabolism (participates in the synthesis of nucleic acids, protein, amino acid, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism). Promotes the production of energy needed by body cells in the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates. Methylcobalamin is a coenzyme of methionine synthase - an enzyme that participates in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine in protein and DNA methylation reactions. Vitamin B12 is necessary to ensure better absorption of folic acid, it enhances and complements its action.
