Application

Drainage (French: Drainer - drainage) is a treatment method that involves removing the contents of wounds, abscesses, the contents of hollow organs, natural or pathological cavities of the body to the outside. Complete drainage ensures adequate outflow of wound exudate, creates the best conditions for early rejection of dead tissues and the transition of healing to the regeneration phase. There are practically no contraindications to drainage. In the process of purulent surgical and antibacterial therapy, another advantage of drainage was revealed - the possibility of targeted influence on wound infection.

To ensure good drainage, it is necessary to take into account the nature of the drainage, the choice of the optimal drainage method for each specific case, the position of the drainage in the wound, the use of specific preparations for wound irrigation (according to the sensitivity of the microflora), and proper maintenance of the drainage system in compliance with the rules of asepsis.
