Characteristic
Sumavit Sorrel is a complex of vitamins and minerals specifically designed to meet the special nutritional needs of expectant mothers and their babies.
Sumavit Sorrel is made in Germany.
Folic acid:
Sumavit materna contains fourth-generation folate - Quatrefolic®, which, unlike folic acid, is already a biologically active form of folate. Regular folic acid in the body must first be transformed into an active form by enzymes.
Quatrefolic does not require additional activation in the body, providing the necessary level of folate content during pregnancy and breastfeeding, even in those women whose bodies cannot fully absorb folic acid.
Folates contribute to the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy, the normal functioning of the immune system, and are also involved in the processes of cell division.
Insufficient folate levels in the body are a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the fetus.
Since the closure of the neural tube occurs as early as three to four weeks after conception, for effective prevention, it is necessary to start taking 400 micrograms (mcg) of folic acid daily before a planned pregnancy.
Iodine:
During pregnancy or breastfeeding, the need for iodine is increased, so sufficient intake of iodine is especially important. If you have thyroid diseases, you should consult a doctor beforehand.
Iodine, among other things, contributes to the normal development of cognitive function and growth in children. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the body has sufficient iodine before pregnancy.
DHA (omega-3 fatty acid):
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that is one of the most important unsaturated fatty acids during pregnancy. It is involved in brain development and vision formation in the fetus and infant during breastfeeding. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the body's need for DHA increases and the amount of DHA coming from food sources is insufficient. DHA is transferred from mother to child through the placenta and with breast milk.
Vitamin D3:
The mother's vitamin D levels directly affect her baby's vitamin D supply. Vitamin D contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system and the maintenance of healthy bones.
A small amount of vitamin D enters the body with food, mainly it is formed in the body due to sunlight hitting the skin. In the winter months, it is especially difficult to obtain the recommended amount of vitamin D. It should be noted that low doses of vitamin D cannot fully meet the needs of a pregnant woman and a child. The initial level of vitamin D in the blood and the possible recommended dose are individual and depend on many factors (season, skin color, duration of sun exposure, use of sunscreen, body mass index, diet).
B vitamins:
Vitamins B1, B2, B6 and B12 contribute to normal energy and substance metabolism in the body and the normal functioning of the nervous system. Vitamin B12 is also involved in the processes of cell division.
Vitamin E:
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin and is necessary for the normal structure and functioning of cell membranes (shells). Vitamin E has a high antioxidant effect (prevents oxidation and destruction of cell membranes). Improves oxygen consumption by tissues.
The most important structural component of bone tissue. It also supports heart function, provides muscle contractions, improves nerve conduction, normalizes vascular wall permeability and participates in blood clotting. The need for calcium increases rapidly during pregnancy and lactation.
Indication
To replenish the deficiency of vitamins and minerals in pregnant women.
Method of administration and doses

To ensure your baby has an optimal start in life, you should start taking Sumavit Materna before pregnancy, as the development of many systems and organs occurs in the first few weeks after conception. You should continue taking it until the end of the breastfeeding period, as your baby also receives nutrients important for his life and development from breast milk.
