Prolene polypropylene - is a monofilament, synthetic, non-absorbable, sterile, surgical suture material and is made from an isotactic crystalline stereoisomer of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. Provides constant tensile strength in tissues, as well as easy sliding through the tissue without traumatizing it. The thread has an "early warning system". Before tearing, the suture material stops stretching, informing the surgeon of excessive force. Prolene thread provides a minimum knot diameter due to its plastic properties. The smooth surface of the thread does not contribute to bacterial contamination.
