Synthomycin liniment 10% 25 g

Synthomycin is an antibiotic for topical use. Chloramphenicol is used for the topical treatment of purulent-inflammatory skin lesions (carbuncles, boils), purulent wounds, trophic ulcers that do not heal for a long time, second- and third-degree burns, and cracked nipples in women in labor.
Composition
active ingredient: chloramphenicol (synthomycin); 1 g of liniment contains chloramphenicol (synthomycin) - 100 mg; excipients: castor oil, emulsifier No. 1 (cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol), sorbic acid, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, purified water.Contraindication
Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, allergy and toxic reaction (dyspepsia, dysbacteriosis, mental disorders) to chloramphenicol in history, psoriasis, eczema, fungal skin diseases. Do not prescribe to children in the first 4 weeks of life.
Method of application
Liniment is impregnated with gauze swabs or applied in a thin layer directly to the affected area. A regular bandage is applied on top, possibly with parchment or compress paper. Bandages are performed depending on the indications after 1–3 days, sometimes after 4–5 days. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually.
In case of cracked nipples in women in labor, after each feeding, the nipples are washed with a 0.25% solution of ammonia, then a sterile napkin covered with a layer of liniment is applied to the crack. This quickly relieves sharp pain, and 2–5 days after the start of treatment, the cracks heal.
Application features
Do not allow the liniment to get into the eyes. Uncontrolled treatment with the drug in pediatric practice is unacceptable - use only as prescribed by a doctor.
Antibacterial agents for external use may lead to skin sensitization with the development of hypersensitivity reactions in the future (when these drugs are prescribed externally or in the form of a systemic dosage form).
The medicinal product contains castor oil, which may cause skin reactions, and sorbic acid, which may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
Since the pharmacokinetics of synthomycin have not been studied, the drug should be used with caution during pregnancy and only when, in the opinion of the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
During the treatment of cracked nipples in postpartum women, breastfeeding does not need to be stopped.
Before breastfeeding, remove any remaining product from the nipple and surrounding skin with a clean cloth, and wash the nipple thoroughly and gently.
Children
Not prescribed to children in the first 4 weeks of life.
Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms
Does not affect.
Overdose
Symptoms: possible increase in side effects of the drug.
Treatment: symptomatic.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions
Simultaneous use of the drug with erythromycin, oleandomycin, nystatin and levorin increases the antibacterial activity of the liniment, and with benzylpenicillin salts - reduces it. Synthomycin is incompatible with sulfonamides.
The drug is incompatible with cytostatics, diphenyl, barbiturates and pyrazolone derivatives, and ethanol.
Adverse reactions
Prolonged external use often leads to contact sensitization.
Allergic reactions: burning sensation, itching, hyperemia (redness), rashes (papular, urticaria, etc.), swelling, angioedema, other signs of irritation that were not observed before treatment.
Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25C.
Keep out of reach of children.
After opening the tube, store the medicine for the duration of the course of treatment.
