Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics.
The drug Troxerutin, gel 2%, is a mixture of bioflavonoids, which contains not less than 95% troxerutin. Troxerutin accumulates selectively in the endothelial layer of venules, penetrates deeply into the subendothelial layer of the venous wall, and the concentration is higher than in neighboring tissues. The drug prevents damage to cell membranes caused by oxidation.
The antioxidant effect is manifested in the reduction and elimination of the oxidative properties of oxygen, inhibition of lipid peroxidation, protection of the vascular endothelium from the oxidative action of hydroxyl radicals. Troxerutin reduces the increased permeability of capillaries and has a venotonic effect. The cytoprotective effect is the result of inhibition of neutrophil activation and adhesion, reduction of erythrocyte aggregation and increase of erythrocyte resistance to deformation, reduction of the release of inflammatory mediators.
Increases venous-arterial reflux, prolongs venous refill time, improves microcirculation and microvascular perfusion.
The action of the drug Troxerutin, 2% gel, is aimed at reducing swelling, pain, improving trophism and eliminating various pathological disorders associated with venous insufficiency.
Pharmacokinetics.
After topical application of Troxerutin gel, the active ingredient is easily released from the water-soluble gel base and penetrates the dermis after approximately 30 minutes, and into the subcutaneous fatty tissue after 2-5 hours.
