Composition

active ingredient: 100 g of syrup (93.985 ml) contain 0.2506 g of liquid extract from the roots of Pelargonium sidoides (EPs® 7630) (1:8-10) dried (extractant - ethanol 11% (m/m));

excipients: maltodextrin, xylitol, glycerin 85%, anhydrous citric acid, potassium sorbate, xanthan gum, purified water.

Dosage form

Syrup.

Main physicochemical properties: viscous syrup from orange to light brown in color.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics.

The drug contains an extract from the roots of Pelargonium sidoides, which stimulates the body's nonspecific defense mechanisms, has antimicrobial effects and moderate direct antibacterial and antiviral properties, as well as cytoprotective properties.

Pharmacokinetics.

The drug is a complex mixture of many components, which as a whole is considered as an active substance. There is no data on the pharmacokinetics of the drug yet.

Indication

Acute and chronic infections of the respiratory tract and ENT organs (bronchitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, rhinopharyngitis).

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, increased tendency to bleeding or taking medications that slow down the blood clotting process. Severe liver and kidney diseases (given the lack of sufficient experience with the use of this drug in such cases).

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions

There are no reports of this yet.

Due to the possible effect of Umcalor on blood coagulation parameters, it is not excluded that, when used simultaneously, it may affect the effect of indirect anticoagulants such as warfarin. In a placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical study involving healthy volunteers, no interactions of Umcalor with penicillin were found.

Application features

If symptoms persist for a week, fever persists for several days, or shortness of breath and bloody sputum are observed, it is recommended to consult a doctor.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Due to the lack of sufficient experience with the use of Umcalor, it is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms

There are no studies on the effect of the drug on the ability to drive or operate other mechanisms.

Method of administration and doses

Adults and children over 12 years old - 7.5 ml of syrup three times a day.

Children aged 6 to 12 years - 5 ml of syrup three times a day.

Children aged 1 to 5 years - 2.5 ml of syrup three times a day.

Method of application

The syrup should be taken orally 3 times a day in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Duration of treatment

After the symptoms disappear, it is recommended to continue treatment for several days to prevent relapse.

The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 weeks.

Children

Umcalor is not recommended for use in children under 1 year of age due to insufficient data on its safety and efficacy in this patient group.

Overdose

To date, there have been no reports of overdose.

Possible increase in adverse reactions.

Adverse reactions

From the digestive system:

Gastrointestinal disorders: stomach pain, heartburn, diarrhea; slight bleeding gums.

On the part of the respiratory system:

mild nosebleeds.

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders/immune system disorders:

hypersensitivity reactions.

From the hepatobiliary system:

Increased liver function tests. A causal relationship between the increase in these tests and the use of the drug has not been established.

If adverse reactions occur, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.

Expiration date

2 years.

After opening the bottle - 6 months.

Do not use the drug after the expiration date indicated on the package.
