Properties
Cranberry extract (Vaccinium macrocarpon) contains proanthocyanidins. Proanthocyanidins are natural substances that cause damage to the bacterial membrane, prevent the reproduction and adhesion (adhesion) of bacteria to the urinary tract epithelium. Proanthocyanidins, which are part of the cranberry extract, prevent the reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms on the surface of the urinary tract epithelium. The ability of cranberry extract to block the adhesion of pathogenic microorganisms to the uroepithelium (mucous membranes of the urinary tract) applies not only to E. coli, which is the cause of about 90% of urinary tract infections, but also to other, widespread pathogens of urinary tract infections. This effect contributes to the rapid washing out of pathogens, preventing colonization of the urinary system by microorganisms and, as a result, the development of inflammation. The active components of cranberry extract enhance the effect of antibiotics and antiseptics used in urinary tract infections. In vitro studies have shown that cranberry juice also has fungistatic properties against dermatophytes and other fungi. Ursolic acid, which is contained in cranberry extract, has a diuretic effect. In patients with kidney stones, cranberry juice reduces the amount of ionized calcium in the urine by more than 50%, which has a pronounced preventive effect on stone formation, especially considering that 75-85% of kidney stones consist of calcium salts. Cranberries make urine acidic, due to the content of quinic acid - an acidic compound that is not destroyed in the body and is excreted unchanged in the urine. Increasing the acidity of urine prevents the connection of calcium and phosphate ions involved in the formation of insoluble stones, thus preventing stone formation. Pectic substances of cranberries form insoluble compounds with heavy radioactive metals (lead, strontium, etc.), contributing to their excretion from the body and general detoxification. Cranberry extract also contains vitamins: A, C, E, PP, group B; macro- and microelements: potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron.
Cranberry extract (Vaccinium vitis-idaea) contains organic acids (citric, salicylic and malic), which affect the renal parenchyma - increase the volume of fluid excretion, thereby activating and accelerating the work of the kidneys. There is a "washing out" of toxins, inflammation products and bacteria. Cranberry extract helps reduce swelling of inflamed areas of organs and tissues, reduces the load on the circulatory and cardiac systems, facilitates urination. Free benzoic acid (up to 0.2%), which is contained in cranberry extract, effectively suppresses pathogenic bacteria in the renal tubules and prevents their reproduction, providing an antiseptic effect. Rutin, coumarins and vitamin C, which are also contained in cranberry extract, have anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects, as well as increase tone, strengthen immunity and promote rapid recovery after illness.
Raspberry extract (Rubus idaeus) contains salicylic acid, which gently eliminates the inflammatory process and has a pronounced diaphoretic effect, relieving intoxication. Raspberry extract is rich in the trace element iron, which prevents the development of anemia - a common complication of chronic pyelonephritis. Raspberry extract also contains anthocyanins (quercetin, kaempferol, cyanidin), they prevent the growth of pathogenic microflora and contribute to the localization of the inflammatory process. Raspberry extract also contains vitamins C, E, PP, B1, B2, B9, carotene - they play the role of antioxidants, contribute to strengthening immunity and rapid recovery after exacerbation of the inflammatory process and intoxication. Also, antioxidants that are part of raspberry extract can improve complexion and serve as a preventive measure against early aging.
