Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics.

Vasavital® is a combined herbal preparation that contains vitamins.

Contains ginkgo biloba leaf extract. The active components of ginkgo biloba are flavone glycosides and terpenes - ginkgolides and bilobalides, as well as proanthocyanidins and organic acids, which provide increased bioavailability of the drug components and increase the specific activity of Vasavital®. The pharmacological action of ginkgo biloba leaf extract is based on its ability to inhibit free radical oxidation processes, which is an important factor in tissue damage during ischemia and hypoxia.

The drug affects the formation of vasoactive mediators and inflammatory mediators, which determines its ability to improve blood circulation and have an anti-edema effect. The drug reduces the risk of thrombosis, normalizes cellular metabolism, increases the content of ATP in the cerebral cortex, has a positive effect on the metabolism of dopamine and noradrenaline, as well as on cholinergic transmission. Improves blood supply to tissues due to its regulatory effect on blood flow in arteries, capillaries and veins.

Bee pollen (flower pollen) contains biologically active substances (essential amino acids, unsaturated fatty acids) necessary for cell regeneration. Flower pollen has an anti-sclerotic effect, reduces the amount of cholesterol in the blood and removes it from the body.

The dominant rutin and quercetin in pollen improve the elasticity of blood capillaries and their permeability. Flavonoids also have moderate antihistamine, antioxidant, and detoxifying effects.

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Normalizes capillary permeability, helps increase the body's protective functions, prevents the formation of blood clots, and helps saturate tissues with oxygen.

Nicotinic acid (vitamin PP). Participates in the reactions of energy metabolism in the body.

Thiamine hydrochloride (vitamin B1). Plays a primary role in the optimal utilization of carbohydrates, which are the main source of energy, and regulates the function of the peripheral nervous system.

Riboflavin (vitamin B2). Participates in growth processes, affects vision, skin condition, its active phosphorylated forms participate in the regulation of redox processes.

Pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6). Necessary for the absorption of proteins and fats, promotes the formation of red blood cells, regulates the state of the nervous system.

Rutin (vitamin P). Angioprotector, reduces increased capillary permeability, strengthens the vascular wall, reduces its swelling and inflammation. Has an antiplatelet effect, thereby improving microcirculation, delays the development of diabetic retinopathy.

Indication

Prescribed for adults for prevention and in complex treatment:

dyscirculatory encephalopathy with impaired attention, memory, perception, and decreased intellectual capacity;

in the initial stage of Alzheimer's disease;

neurosensory disorders: cochleovestibular syndrome (tinnitus, hypoacusis, dizziness);

diabetic retinopathy;

arteriopathy of the lower extremities (pain when walking, trophic disorders);

Raynaud's syndrome.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Nephrolithiasis, thrombophlebitis, iron or copper metabolism disorders, severe renal dysfunction, gastric and duodenal ulcer in the acute stage, gout, hyperuricemia.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions

The drug should not be taken if the patient is taking acetylsalicylic acid, warfarin, or thiazide diuretics for a long time.

When used simultaneously with drugs that inhibit blood coagulation (such as phenprocoumon, acetylsalicylic acid and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), the effect of the latter may be enhanced.

Due to the increased risk of bleeding, simultaneous administration of the drug with anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents should be avoided. Hemorrhages may increase when the drug is taken simultaneously with quinine. Vitamin C enhances the effect of antimicrobial drugs from the sulfonamide group.

Application features

In case of pathologically increased bleeding tendency (hemorrhagic diathesis), as well as in case of simultaneous use of anticoagulants, the drug should be taken only after consulting a doctor.

Since there is evidence that drugs containing ginkgo biloba extract increase the tendency to bleed, taking this drug should be discontinued before surgery.

It is prescribed with caution in patients with a history of gastric and duodenal ulcers, urolithiasis, liver damage, patients with a history of kidney disease, a tendency to thrombosis and bleeding (hemophilia, thrombocytopenia, thrombocytopathy, etc.), allergic diseases. The drug is not recommended to be prescribed together with other multivitamins, since an overdose of the latter in the body is possible. The recommended dose of the drug should not be exceeded.

The drug contains lactose, therefore patients with rare hereditary forms of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome should not use it.

It is recommended to closely monitor patients who are simultaneously taking drugs that are metabolized by cytochrome P450 3A4. There are no reports of overdose of ginkgo biloba.

The drug contains lactose, therefore patients with rare hereditary forms of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome should not use the drug.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding

Due to the lack of clinical data, the drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms

No studies have been conducted to assess the effect on the reaction speed when driving or using other mechanisms. However, dizziness may impair the ability to drive or use other mechanisms.

Method of administration and doses

Adults are prescribed 1 capsule 3 times a day. Take during meals, drinking ½ glass of water. The course of treatment is determined by the doctor individually and is usually 1-3 months 2 times a year. The onset of the therapeutic effect occurs after 7 days of treatment. The most pronounced effect is observed 3 weeks after taking the drug.

Children

Do not use on children.

Overdose

Symptoms: possible increase in adverse reactions, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, bloating, impaired kidney function, allergic skin rashes, itching, headache, increased excitability, impaired consciousness.

With prolonged use of high doses, anorexia, impaired liver enzyme activity, paresthesia, increased sweating, arterial hypotension, hyperuricemia, and a feeling of heat may occur.

Treatment: induce vomiting. Symptomatic therapy.

Side effects

The following reactions are occasionally observed:

from the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions, allergic reactions, including anaphylactic shock, angioedema, urticaria, shortness of breath, bronchospasm, hyperthermia;

from the digestive system: digestive disorders, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, increased secretion of gastric juice;

from the nervous system: headache, dizziness, syncope (including vasovagal);

Skin: skin inflammation, redness, swelling, itching, rash, urticaria, eczema;

Others: decreased blood clotting, change in urine color.

In rare cases, when using drugs containing ginkgo biloba extract, especially when used simultaneously with anticoagulants (such as phenprocoumon, acetylsalicylic acid and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), hemorrhages (gastrointestinal, ocular, cerebral) occur.
