Vicryl W9121 purple No. 2/0 length 75 cm barbed needle 26 mm circumference 1/2

Vicryl suture is a synthetic, sterile, absorbable suture material. It is manufactured from a copolymer consisting of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. The empirical formula of the copolymer is (C2H2O2)m(C3H4O2)n. It is coated with a mixture of equal parts of a glycolide-lactide copolymer (Polyglactin 370) and calcium stearate. Polyglactin 910, Polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate are known to have no antigenic properties. They are non-pyrogenic and cause little tissue reaction upon resorption.
Indications for use
Vicryl is suitable for soft tissue approximation, including use in ophthalmic surgery. It is also suitable for peripheral nerve anastomosis and for microsurgery on vessels less than 2 mm in diameter. The safety and efficacy of these suture materials in cardiovascular surgery have not been established. Vikryl suture material has excellent handling properties, sufficient thread strength, and low wicking. A special coating gives the sutures optimal properties for the surgeon's comfort. A secure and securely fixed knot is achieved by weaving the sutures into the material.
How to use
The selection and placement of sutures should be based on the following factors: patient condition, surgeon experience, surgical technique, and wound size.
Warnings and precautions
As with all foreign bodies, this thread, if left in contact with saline for a long time (e.g. in the urinary or biliary tract), may lead to the formation of stones. Sutures left on the skin for more than 7 days may cause local irritation. They should be removed according to instructions. In tissues with poor blood supply, absorbable sutures should be used with caution, as rejection of the suture and delayed absorption may occur.
Subcutaneous sutures should be placed as deeply as possible to reduce erythema and induration that are commonly associated with the resorption process. In addition, this suture material is not recommended for use in elderly, emaciated, or debilitated patients, or in patients with conditions that interfere with wound healing.
Reservation
Side effects associated with the use of this material include local temporary irritation at the wound site, temporary inflammatory reaction to the foreign body, redness, swelling, and induration during absorption of intradermal sutures. As with any other foreign body, this suture material may aggravate an existing infection.
