Virolex powder for preparation of solution for infusions 250 mg bottle No. 5

Pharmacological properties
Acyclovir is an antiviral drug active against herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 and herpes zoster virus. It has a virostatic effect. It inhibits the synthesis of viral DNA, without affecting the physiological processes in the cell.
The half-life in individuals with normal renal function is 2.9 hours after intravenous infusion. Acyclovir penetrates well into tissues, organs and biological fluids of the body: the brain, kidneys, lungs, liver, muscles, spleen, uterus, vaginal mucosa, vaginal secretions, cerebrospinal fluid and the contents of herpetic vesicles. 15.4% of acyclovir binds to plasma proteins. In healthy individuals, acyclovir is excreted mainly in the urine unchanged. Pharmacokinetics in children over 1 year of age is similar to that in adults.
Indication
Infections caused by the herpes simplex virus: primary genital herpes, recurrent genital herpes, herpetic encephalitis and generalized infections, herpes of the skin and mucous membranes in immunocompromised patients, neonatal herpes, other infections (herpetic eczema, hepatitis, proctitis, esophagitis, pneumonia).
Prevention of infections caused by the Herpes simplex virus: after bone marrow or kidney transplantation, in bone marrow aplasia after treatment with cytostatic drugs; recurrent genital herpes (with a frequency of 6 times a year or more); frequent recurrent infections in patients with normal immune status; infections in patients with immunodeficiency.
Infections caused by the Varicella zoster virus: chickenpox in immunocompromised patients; severe or prolonged forms of chickenpox in patients with normal immune status; complications of chickenpox caused by the direct action of the Varicella zoster virus; shingles in immunocompromised patients; complications of shingles caused by the direct action of the Varicella zoster virus; ocular and aural forms of shingles; shingles in people over 50 years of age.
Application
Treatment with acyclovir should be started as early as possible, immediately after the first signs of the disease appear.
The drug is administered intravenously slowly over 1 hour.
herpes simplex | 5 mg/kg every 8 hours | 250 mg/m2 every 8 hours | 5 days |
herpetic encephalitis | 10 mg/kg every 8 hours | 500 mg/m2 every 8 hours | 10 days |
Chickenpox in patients with normal immune status | 5 mg/kg every 8 hours | 250 mg/m2 every 8 hours | 7 days |
Chickenpox in immunocompromised patients | 10 mg/kg every 8 hours | 500 mg/m2 every 8 hours | from 7 to 10 days |
infection prevention | 250 mg/m2 every 8 hours | ||
Dosage for neonates: 10 mg/kg every 8 hours. Dosage regimen for patients with renal impairment is given below:
25-50 ml/min (0.41-0.83 ml/s) | Usual dose every 12 hours |
10-25 ml/min (0.16-0.41 ml/s) | Usual dose every 24 hours |
0-10 ml/min (0-0.16 ml/s) | Half the usual dose every 24 hours and immediately after dialysis |
Before use, the contents of 1 vial should be dissolved in 10 ml of water for injection or isotonic sodium chloride solution; administer using an infusion pump. To prepare an infusion solution, the contents of two vials are dissolved ex tempore in 100 ml of isotonic sodium chloride solution or lactated Ringer's solution; if necessary, a dose exceeding 500 mg is administered, an adequate amount of diluent is added.
Preparation of the infusion solution for children who require doses of 10 mg and below is performed in two stages: first, the contents of the vial are dissolved in 10 ml of water for injection or isotonic sodium chloride solution, and then the appropriate dose is added to the infusion solution in a ratio of 1: 5 (for example, 4 ml in 20 ml).
The drug does not contain preservatives. The prepared solution is stable for 12 hours at a temperature of 15 to 25 °C. Do not use a solution that has become cloudy or has formed crystals. Isotonic sodium chloride solution or Ringer's solution can be used to prepare infusion solutions.
Water for injection should not contain preservatives (benzyl alcohol or parabens).
Contraindication
